What Lovewick does well
Lovewick's question decks are its strongest feature. There are over a thousand couples questions across six categories (intimacy, interests, personality, values, family, money) and premium decks tied to milestones like moving in together or getting engaged. The questions are thoughtful and several of the low reviews we read still said the questions were good even while complaining about the price.
It also has a date ideas library with 750+ ideas you can filter by cost, time or long distance, relationship wishlists, anniversary and date night countdowns, and a memory timeline. You can use it on your own or paired with your partner, and if you're long distance you can answer questions over a video call or asynchronously through typed notes. New questions and date ideas are added weekly.
What people complain about
The App Store rating is a healthy 4.8, but the Google Play rating sits around 3.5, and the recent one and two star reviews explain the gap.
- Ten cards a day became one. The most repeated complaint by far. Long-time users say they used to draw up to ten question cards a day for free and an update cut that to a single card unless you pay. Several people who had been recommending the app to friends said they deleted it that week.
- "You said it would always be free." A lot of the anger is about the change more than the price. People who signed up when it was pitched as free felt the goalposts moved.
- About $10 a month. Reviewers quote around ten dollars a month for premium, and a few said that even at that price the extra content was not worth it.
- Android bugs. Freezing every couple of minutes, lag in the text box while answering, blank screen after sign-up, photos that load forever, and a couple that could not see each other's answers even after weeks with support.
- Ran out of content. One couple said they finished all the questions over a year ago and were still waiting for more when the paywall arrived.
